SHIHAD TO SHED NAME
shihad have confirmed the name, shihad, is no longer the band name. due to the terrorist attacks in new york and washington d.c. earlier in the year, the named was deemed inappropriate. shihad sounds very simliar to 'jihad' which is the islamic holy war. FAQ.
anthrax (the band) have suffered the same fate although are yet to change their name.
whilst this has not been officially confirmed via the official website, it would makes sense.

jon says, "We've been in the band called Shihad for 12 years. OK, so it's pretty dubious and it means the holy war, but we got it from a David Lynch sci-fi movie when we were 16-year-old kids."
tom adds, "It's colourful and it's got a forward vision. It's not like The Strokes - it's not living in the past. It's about the future, about moving the thing forward and doing it with guitar, bass and drums."
apparently the cd will also be a self-titled release.

i am hoping to confirm this with karl later today.
good time to use the forum huh :)

the shihad faq, i only said v1.0, is now online. i have added it to the menu bar for easy access. it's very simple at the moment but it will evolve into the essential tool for all things shihad. to make this work, it would be great if you have any questions about shihad that need answering to do so here. alternatively you can also email me.
also, please let me know what things you would like to see in the FAQ. inaccuracies and so on would be appreciated if you could point them out.
karl is now a registered member of the forum. in the forum you can chat about all things shihad and about anything else.
and finally, in case you didn't notice, you can comment on each news post at the bottom of each entry. hint: links are in black :)

ALL IS QUIET IN 'HAD LAND
the lads seem to be keeping very quiet at the moment. they do not feature on the television, they're not in any new magazines, they are probably still being played on the radio, head like a hole want to release some songs and the kids still love zed.
since it is all very quiet, can i suggest you have a look here. it's an interview with jabba from channel v. we're talking *the fish album* era.

SHIHAD ON THE COVER OF REAL GROOVE
if you're living in new zealand, be sure to pick up a copy of real groove magazine. the four mugshots grace the cover and inside karl gives the lowdown on the american cuisine, people, the accomodation and more importantly the recording. the pictures are nothing we haven't seen already; they're the same as on the official site.
it appears that you can no longer read the magazine online, so you will need to go down to the local bookstore and shell out $4.95.

APRA TOP TEN
unfortunately, shihad didn't do any better that 'home again' at number 30. apart from that, no huge surprises really. the finn brothers and dave dobbyn featured with another four songs between them.
top song was 'nature' by the muttonbirds. not my pick but a classic all the same.

a bit of research would indicate that the new album is going to rock like nothing else has done before. have a look at josh abraham's portfolio here.
those are some pretty rocking discs he has produced. one can only hope we are leaked some aural samples soon.
